Frequently asked questions
Answers about pet tick checks, camera filter modes, removal basics, subscriptions, and privacy.
Is Tickzen a tick detector app for dogs and cats?
Yes. Tickzen is a camera helper for pet tick checks. It gives you visual filter modes that can make it easier to inspect fur after walks, hikes, parks, grooming, camping, or outdoor play, especially on thick, dark, or long coats.
Does the app automatically diagnose ticks or tick bites?
No. Tickzen is a visual inspection tool, not a veterinary diagnosis service. It can help you look more carefully, but it cannot guarantee that every tick is found or identify illness. Contact a veterinarian for symptoms, removal concerns, bite reactions, or suspected tick-borne disease.
How do I check my dog for ticks?
Use the camera slowly and part the fur as you inspect. Common easy-to-miss areas include in and around the ears, around the eyelids, under the collar, under the front legs, between the toes, between the back legs, around the belly, and near the tail.
When should I use Tickzen?
Use it after your pet spends time outdoors, including walks, dog parks, grassy yards, wooded trails, camping trips, beach grass, grooming visits, or peak seasonal tick-risk periods. Daily checks are helpful for pets that go outside often.
What should I do if I find a tick on my pet?
Remove an attached tick promptly with clean fine-tipped tweezers, grasping close to the skin and pulling with steady pressure. Clean the area afterward and watch your pet for behavior or appetite changes. Ask your veterinarian about tick prevention, symptoms, local tick risks, or removal questions.
Can Tickzen help on dark or thick fur?
Yes. The filter modes are designed to make small details easier to see while you inspect dark, thick, curly, or long fur. Good lighting still matters, and you should move slowly through the coat instead of relying on one quick camera pass.
How does the subscription work?
Subscriptions are billed weekly or annually at the rate shown in your selected plan. They renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. You can manage or cancel your subscription from your App Store account settings.
What features are included in the Premium subscription?
Premium access unlocks the app's full pet inspection workflow, including expanded camera filter tools, saved check history, advanced visual modes, and any additional pet-care helper features listed inside the app at the time you subscribe.
Can the app replace flea and tick prevention?
No. Tickzen helps with visual checks, but it does not prevent ticks or treat bites. Talk to your veterinarian about the right tick preventive products for your dog or cat, especially because some products that are safe for dogs can be unsafe for cats.
How is my data and privacy protected?
Photos and app data are used to provide pet camera inspection and visual filter functionality. Review the Privacy Policy for details about data handling, retention, and your choices.
